WOW. My 2nd DD! Thank you, that's awesome!

The creation of this photo was fairly simple in terms of post-processing. As the photo is originally RAW-format, I increased saturation, contrast and sharpness. I added  brightness adjustments locally on the chickens, and darkened as well as blurred the background. This separated them from the wooden wall and brings a lot more "mood" to the photo. The painterly look probably originates from the soft and limited light, some slight blur due to a slow shutter speed, as well as the texture on the feathers.
Their heads all pointing in the same direction was pure luck.
Hope you like it.

As with all my photos, the camera captured the moment, I did the editing.

This is a fantastic photo. Beautiful lighting and great arrangement. May I ask what effects you have put over it? Just curious as it looks as though it may have an oil painting or similar filter over the top and it looks stunning!

Thank you.
I did not add any "effects" to this photo. What I did was increase contrast, saturation and sharpness. Then I adjusted the lighting locally and added blur around the chickens to further separate them from the background. Please read the updated description for more info.

If you have Photoshop, you might try copying the layer and then using the high pass filter (Filter - Other - High Pass), then setting the layer mode to overlay or soft light.  Experiment with adjusting the levels of that new layer.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely have to play around with that if you've managed to achieve such wonderful results from it :)

Thank you!

please, I hope you haven't mistaken me for lashrasch, who took and processed this great photograph.

But I have been experimenting with the High Pass filter in Photoshop and am getting some nice results. For example, today I did a 'before and after' using (amongst other processes, the High Pass filter) - link

Sorry, yes I did. My mistake. Still a brilliant picture and I have been utilizing your advice with some practice photos today. It works incredibly well! Thank you so much for the information. It seems to boost the clearness of the image without putting that horrible scratchy effect that some filters/effects have.  I've been playing around with it and already am noticing the difference. Thank you so much!

Again, sorry for mistaking you for Lashrasch... and sorry Lashrasch (doesn't change the fact that it is still a brilliant photo).
